Even as the night goes unwillingly and it’s darkness clings to the remaining hours not even the fumbling fingers of an old man on a keyboard can withstand lightnesses early arrival. I’ll pay for this later I tell myself but laying claim to these early morning routines allows me the tranquility that only me, the birds, and a few moist worms can enjoy alone for our reprieve.
I have had a hint at the news while waiting for the water to boil for the coffee and I won’t be turning that back on. One of my tasks that awaits me is how to disconnect cable while keeping my landline phone and the internet.
Hope springs eternal is still the mantra with the weather though compared to other parts of our country we really don’t have anything to complain about. Playing with fonts and opening size letters are all I can do to keep my fingers moving. Where did the Tiger go that I had planned to feature in this article. Let me go try and find him.
Luke 21:25-36 25 “There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on the earth distress among nations confused by the roaring of the sea and the waves. 26 People will faint from fear and foreboding of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
27 Then they will see ‘the Son of Man coming in a cloud’ with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to take place, stand up and raise your heads because your redemption is drawing near.”
29 Then he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees; 30 as soon as they sprout leaves you can see for yourselves and know that summer is already near. 31 So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near.
32 Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all things have taken place. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
34 “Be on guard so that your hearts are not weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life, and that day does not catch you unexpectedly, 35 like a trap. For it will come upon all who live on the face of the whole earth.
36 Be alert at all times, praying that you may have the strength to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
You might think we live this nice quiet genteel life being retired and all. And of course, I am speaking of myself in the duality of my existence. I am not the same person throughout my day. It’s not like the 3 Faces Of Eve or the 7 ‘whatever’s” of Sybil, I forgot what that was, but my personality for the moment changes to fit the moment. Take today, for example, a trip to the hospital? I don’t expect the cardiogram to reveal anything disturbingly new, but it’s the process of going to the hospital and being subjected to, ” do this, do that” And when they’re nice and polite then I’m thrown off balance because they are not always “nice and polite”. Then to the Doctor’s office which the very technician who performed the Echo gram pushed me in a wheelchair clear to the other side of the hospital all the way to the West Tower. Okay, we’re still in the same building, not Jerusalem or anything like that. We had a long extended talk with the Dr. and after his probing and blood pressure routine which he was somewhat amazed at how calm I was, He suggested we could make an appointment for X-rays or do it now. We voted “Do it now.” We were already here and a bird in the hand is worth two in a bush and I have no idea if that applied here or not. We actually walk the excruciating walk all the way back over to where we had come from and then it did seem as if we had traveled to Jerusalem. X-rays completed, she again, another technician this time, wheeled me to the front where Mary went and got the car and took me home. Just writing about has worn me out, so I took a nap The End
My doctor gave me a bottle of Ice Mountain water while I was in his office. On the way out I noticed how cold the water was in the fountains. SINCE Fountains rhymes with Mountains I am going back every day to fill up my Mountain bottle with Fountain water, It’s cold, and it’s free. If I keep the guest pass that I have on today I should be able to just walk right in, sit right down, daddy let your mind go on. I’m sure there were other benefits from seeing the Doctor, like getting X-rays of my lower Delta to see how much Arthur-itice I actually do have. Like is there cartilage missing or two? The Echo Cardio Gramist didn’t see anything alarming enough to have me committed. or was that admitted? Am I getting old or are these taxidermists that pushes you around getting younger and younger? Now I have to rest up before taking my car into the shop to see the car doctor.
The Chicago Cubs were not the only ones to bring a miracle to 2016, Donald J Trump just shocked the world and won the President of the United States of America.
guess I will take the statement that seems to be trending now. “no matter who wins.” Well, I am afraid that it matters a lot to each side and to each side’s supporters as well. Each candidate has been so vilified and denigrated that even if they themselves can let it roll off their back, doesn’t mean the supporters will feel so forgiving. There has been a lot of mean-spirited stuff said and done to each side. So what do you want to add to “no matter who wins.” It’s not over, It’s not over in congress and it’s not over in the streets.
As I proceeded to move from my stopped position at the Stop sign I hear a horn blaring and to my lackadaisical astonishment see out of my peripheral left eye a car coming at my broadside. I didn’t panic nor did I speed up uncontrollably, the fact is I didn’t speed up at all. He did not appear to be braking but no doubt he was not aware of the last car that came speeding at me, and I mean really speeding. Michael, my brother was with me and were he still here with me, he’s not, he died about 4 years ago. Well, in that instance the car disappeared. We don’t know what happened to it. Gone!! Nevertheless, I proceeded as I was doing in the first place and proceeded to circumnavigate the parking lot to find myself a convenient place to park and enter the store at which Mary was going to shop. I all the while lounged myself in Starbucks and wolfed down a fudge brownie and a Hot Chocolate albeit without my mask on because I was eating and drinking. End of Story.
Be glad we’re merely paying a virtual visit to this ‘City of the Dead’ outside Dargavs, Russia. Local folklore warns that if you set foot here, you won’t escape with your life. We’re not sure the dead pose such a mortal danger, but what’s certain is that this is a dead-quiet village. These vaulted-roof huts are not homes—they’re crypts.
Were you here, you might peer into the sole window of any of these huts and see the inhabitants, some entombed with their earthly possessions, others laid to rest in rowboats to paddle into the afterlife. Many of the remains are preserved unsettlingly well—and they more than outnumber you. In use from at least the 16th to 18th centuries, this necropolis is populated by about 10,000 departed ancestors.
Spooked enough yet? If not, try today’s quiz about cemeteries, tombstones, and other grave matters…if you dare.
This has been a test before i HAVE to run off to my typing class and learn how to waltz around these keys like Ziefried danced around the halls of montezume. I have to take my Driving Test soince I am passed the age of 75. not like Freddy Sekowski who is still a pup and gets by letting Shadow drive the Truck. I just discovered that dunking graham crackers into your hot coffee gives an added little treat to your morning meal what ever name you give it now. Between the negativity of a 60 Minute piece last night and a downing of its page on the internet, and an additional loss on the stock market, it is said they lost $7 billion today. I’ll bet you they won’t lose any sleep over it tonight. I didn’t either. I just came off a 5-day cleansing in absence of them and to tell you the truth I kinda liked they got their comeuppance. What I did consider was how would I establish contact with my Friends list. Do I have an email for every friend on my list? No, I don’t.
I remember when I enrolled in Thornton Township (1961) OF Harvey (Ill.). I had only, as recently as Dec. of 1960, been released from St. Charles Boys School, which if you see the sign on the side of the road encased among wild bushes surrounding said sign, reads, Illinois Industrial School for Boys. Now, that was the name of Sheridan, a mini prison for incorrigible youth. A place at that time I had yet to lodge in. It would not be long in waiting. High School was overwhelming, not only for it’s size but socially I was a fish out of water. I reeked of incarceration. My first class, after homeroom was English. The teacher spoke with a Russian accent. Never having met a Russian before it could have been any number of other languages. As anyone would know growing up in their teenage years you were home when the streetlights came on. I, on the other hand was just “going out” as I explained it to my mother. It would be considerably later when I returned. By the time English class came around I was dead tired, so I slept in class. So much so, the teacher, Mr. Russian, allowed me to continue to sleep, having instructed the rest of the class to leave quietly so as not to disturb me. He, in my consideration, instructed the next teacher to let me sleep and when I awoke to tell me “Mr. Russian said you could go on to your next class”. At one point my eyes opened and not recognizing any of the other students assumed I was dreaming and went back to sleep, but, the next time, the teacher, said, as Mr. Russian had instructed him to, “Mr. Thomson, you may go to your next class.” To the roar of laughter from the other students. You have now entered the Twilight Zone.
If we stay in this prison to long we will go insane but not the insanity we equate with Clockwork Orange, no this insanity has a new name, called; The New Normal. You many have heard about it. Anyway, back to my posts from the Vault.
I so forgot I stayed up to late watching this particular movie whose title I don’t recall. The more I watched it the more I realized that I had seen it before, but now I have to watch it til the end because with most movies I watch, well, I have this little quirk, I don’t watch the ending. The reason being is that I know I am going to watch it again, and then I’ll watch the ending. This must have been one of those movies because the ending was not familiar and was kind of lame anyway. Now remakes are remakes and we are seeing a lot of those these days, months, years and none of them are as good as the originals. But there is another thing to be alert for, and that is repeat plots or partial repeat plots and they always stick out like a sore thumb. Now if you are not familiar with that saying ‘sore thumb’ take a hammer and, oh forget it. You’ll know it when it happens that’s for sure. Usually you get Noon Time Music Hour at this time but since my day didn’t start until 11 30 (ah the life of a retiree) we’ll cancel that today and pick it up tomorrow. In the mean time we’ll meander through the rest of the day like it’s the most important day of ones like. Which we know it isn’t. The End
For as long as I can remember the old adage is that if you live by the sword you shall die by the sword. That might seem a bit harsh considering we’re talking about baseball, but I have recently come to the conclusion that the outcome is not as important as the narrative. So, for the last 3 games in a row the Milwaukee Brewers lost all 3 games in the last inning by 1 run. And today seemed to for all intents and purposes looked like it was going to happen again. BUT, Marvelous Mad Maddon, went to the well once to often. I don’t necessarily blame him entirely, because his bull pen had been letting him down. But, if you keep throwing the same man out there time after time then the opposition gets all that much more time to figure him out. And they figured him out today. Tomorrow will probably be a 15 to 14 run game.
Prophecy is God’s Resume of what He said was going to happen and what happened. Revelation is what is to come. No famous writer or theologian or prominent Religious leader said this. I said it. The way you tell if a prophecy is true or not is; did it come true? So if God’s word has been true so far, I’d say there is a good chance the rest is going to be true also. Now the prophets received their prophecy from the Spirit of God, so before someone starts turning the word of God to fit their own image and agenda they might want to see how that worked for those who disparaged God’s Word in the Bible. The fine print reads, alter at your own risk. ~ 30 ~
